5 Musts when celebrating your graduate...In 2022!

Updated: Aug 12, 2022

In the past, graduating seniors went on a trip with their classmates to commemorate their academic achievements. This year our senior didn’t get the chance to celebrate with friends at a remote location by taking selfies on the beach or exploring a new destination. The disappointment of not going on a senior trip had our family trying to think of a way to celebrate her in a different way.

That’s when it hit us, a trip to Disney World planned just for our Senior!

Whether your graduate wants to lay by the pool, climb Mt. Everest, eat exotic food, or take selfies with their favorite characters, Disney is the place to make all their dreams come true. POP Culture Vacation helped us plan each day around our Senior and her perfect trip. I’ll be the first to admit that going to Disney World with teenagers is totally different than going with littles. But it was totally different in the best ways!

Here are 5 MUSTS we discovered when planning our trip for our Senior…

Let your Senior choose the resort you stay at, or choose one they’ve mentioned wanting to stay at in the past.

Let your soon-to-be Graduate choose a restaurant to make reservations for a graduation dinner.

Order Memory Maker early for a discount! You can save $30 and ensure you’ll have plenty of amazing photos of the whole family from your trip.

Choose an ‘experience’ to surprise your Graduate with: make reservations to build a droid or lightsaber if your Senior is a Star Wars fan, plan to visit or dine with their favorite characters, or plan a day to relax by the pool after all those finals!

Plan to buy your Senior a pair of ‘graduation’ Mickey ears early in the day at Magic Kingdom so they can wear them all day. It’s also a good idea to buy them early if you want them monogrammed.

FREEBIE TIP: Make plans to stop at a merchandise shop when you enter the park and ask a cast member at a register for a button for you Senior.

Our daughter chose the order of the parks we went to, the dining reservations we made, and even the resort we stayed at all week. The vacation included some of our family’s favorite rides and snacks, but we intentionally made plans each day to honor our Senior. She wanted to build a droid at Galaxy’s Edge, buy ‘graduation’ Mickey ears at Magic Kingdom, eat at Napoli’s in Epcot, and visit Pandora in Animal Kingdom.

Gaby, from POP, not only made our reservations, but she suggested other places our teens would enjoy. Dining with characters is fun, but if you have kids who love to try new things you should go out of your way to dine at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s restaurant, Sanaa. The African and Indian flavors impressed our whole family, especially our Senior.

Making memories was the main reason we decided to treat our daughter to a Disney vacation, and investing in the Memory Maker Photo Pass ensured we had photographic proof that everyone had a wonderful experience.

So, if you’re debating how to make sure your graduating senior is celebrated, start planning their trip to Disney World! Gaby, at POP Vacations, is ready to help!
