Be a Good Theme Park Guest

With summer coming many people are thinking about theme parks and if they will be open and what visiting will look like.

Free Dining plan for the kiddos this summer at WDW
Shanghai Disneyland reopens!
Of course it cannot be business as usual this summer but I do think with some planning there is a way to reopen safely. All of the responsibility cannot be just on the parks though, we as guests also need to do our parts.

As states start to reopen in phases many of us are thinking what about summer vacations and places like Theme Parks. Down here in Orlando theme parks are part of our life year round but in other states theme parks have a rather limited window to be open so getting the green light to reopen soon is important. Surveys show that most people still want to take some sort of vacation this summer but most will plan to stay closer to home so if there is a theme park they could drive to that might be perfect. I know some people might think going to a theme park during all this is crazy but if done right they could be just as safe as going to the beach, which is another summer vacation staple. I personally believe that getting out in the fresh air and doing something is good for us all. Of course it cannot be business as usual this summer but I do think with some planning there is a way to reopen safely. All of the responsibility cannot be just on the parks though, we as guests also need to do our parts.

#1 - Do not go anywhere if you are feeling sick.  I know we shouldn't need to remind people of that but we do.

#2 - Plan ahead-  This is key since parks will need to limit the number of guests.  I do think all will require you to make some sort of reservation or purchase a ticket only good for a specific date. Shanghai Disney reopened this week and tickets for opening week sold out pretty much instantly.  I recommend keeping an eye on the theme park's website for updates on openings and when tickets will be available.

#3 - Masks- If you want to go to a theme park you will need to wear a mask.   If you are not OK with that then don't plan to go to theme park.

#4 - Temperature checks- You might have to have your temperature taken before being able to enter the park.

#5 - Keep your distance-  Parks will do their best to mark the places on the ground where you should stand to keep the 6 ft rule so please follow it and do not get too close to others if you find yourself somewhere that isn't marked.   If the park makes certain paths one way please just go in that direction even if it means walking more.

#6 - Stay clean- There will be more hand washing stations and hand sanitizer out so use them often and do not try to skip around it if you being asked to do it before entering an attraction or dining area.  Yes I used to see this all the times on cruise ships when they would ask guests to wash before going into the buffet. I know sometimes people might not have been going in to get something to eat and might have just been walking through but during this time please just wash every time you are asked no matter what.

#7 - Have Fun! You are in a theme park so enjoy and don't let the changes ruin your day.
